The problem
Where did the money go?
One volunteer holds everyone's money. Everyone else has to take it on trust, and trust wears thin in the WhatsApp group.
The register walks out the door.
Committees change every year or two. The paper register, the spreadsheet and the knowledge leave with whoever kept them.
Surprise bills.
Without a clear sinking fund, the lift or the roof arrives as a sudden one-off levy.
How it works
Captured, signed, signed, posted. The same four steps for every rupee, visible to every owner.
Handover
The new treasurer sees the full history, open items and a handover summary on day one.
What you get
Photo, PDF or UPI screenshot, kept with the entry. You fill it in; two people check it.
Treasurer, then committee head. Backup approver for conflicts.
Posted means permanent. Corrections are visible.
Balance, spending, trend and receipts on every owner's phone.
A proposed monthly figure from your real costs. Split equally, by area or your own keys. Committee confirms.
See who has paid. A polite WhatsApp reminder in one tap. Owners tap “I've paid”.
See the sinking fund against your target.
Monthly PDF statement, Excel and a full archive with receipts, on every plan.

Trust
Commonkeep exists to protect volunteers from suspicion, not to police them.
Every expense needs two different people. Self-approval is impossible, not just discouraged.
Corrections are new, visible entries. Every action is recorded: who, what and when.
Nothing reaches the books until the spender confirms and two people sign. Duplicate and unusual-amount checks warn; they never block.
Owners see the society's finances, not each other's payment status, unless the society chooses to share it.
A full export (PDF, Excel and every receipt) on every plan, including Free.
Commonkeep is a record-keeping tool. Payments still go directly into your society's own bank account.
No ads, ever. No third-party analytics or tracking, in the app or on this site.
FAQ
Owner-run buildings where volunteers handle the money: housing societies and apartment associations of roughly 8 to 60 flats.
No. Owners open Commonkeep in any web browser on their phone and log in with their mobile number and a one-time code. No passwords.
Never. The spender enters and checks every field, and two people sign before anything is posted.
No one can. Posted entries are locked. A mistake is corrected with a new, visible entry, so the history always shows what happened.
They can't sign their own expense. Your designated backup approver signs instead.
The admin assigns the new role with a start date. The outgoing holder's pending items are listed for clearing. The newcomer sees the full history and a handover summary on first login, and the old holder keeps an owner's view.
Not unless your society turns that on. By default your dues are between you and the committee.
No. Owners pay into the society's own bank account, as now: UPI, bank transfer or cheque. Commonkeep keeps the record. Owners tap “I've paid” and the treasurer confirms.
